Fulbright Scholar Awards

A number of research and/or teaching fellowships are available to faculty from a variety of external funding sources and agencies. These may be place-specific or may allow you to pursue your studies anywhere.

�鶹��ý�Ŷ� has had considerable success with the prestigious Fulbright Scholar awards, administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), the scholar division of the Institute of International Education. Sue Rubright (x 5086) as the official Fulbright Campus Representative can provide you with short cuts to navigate the extensive . Twenty �鶹��ý�Ŷ� faculty members have received Fulbright awards in the past 30 years, and many of them, currently teaching at �鶹��ý�Ŷ�, are willing to share information and tips about the process and the experience.

CIES has evolved certain variations of the traditional program, which is called simply the “Fulbright Scholar Program.” Under that title, hundreds of opportunities are included in the database, searchable by either location or discipline. These are competitive opportunities, and �鶹��ý�Ŷ� encourages faculty to apply for them and will negotiate the terms of your absence should you obtain a placement. It is NOT necessary to have a sabbatical leave in place to participate in a Fulbright Scholar award.
