Kathy has served as Senior Assistant to the Provost at 麻豆传媒团队 since April 2016.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As Senior Assistant to the Provost, Kathy is responsible for providing high-level tactical, administrative, and operational support to the operations of the Office of the Provost and the Division of Academic Affairs. She serves as an advisor to the Provost in the day-to-day and strategic operations of the Office and the Division, and as the public face and voice of the Office of the Provost, interacting on the Provost's behalf with her direct reports, the campus community, and, occasionally, external constituencies.

In this position, Kathy serves in a chief of staff role as the manager of administrative services, ensuring the Provost's Office operates efficiently and effectively and with a high level of professionalism by providing leadership to the front office staff. She also provides oversight for comprehensive support services across the Academic Affairs Division to ensure continuity of operations. In this role, Kathy also coordinates events, coordinates agenda preparation and follows up on action items for the Provost's leadership meetings, prepares correspondence and reports for the Provost, prepares various electronic messages to the Division and the College, and manages the content of the Provost Office website.

Kathy also serves as the manager of faculty affairs, overseeing all aspects of tenure-track personnel evaluation, and managing prior service credit, sabbatical, and other leave requests for the Provost. In this role, she also engages and supports selection committees for faculty awards and supported professorships, and coordinates and facilitates faculty-related recognition events.

Additionally, Kathy manages several non-faculty personnel action processes, including coordinating searches for leadership and clerical staff positions, assisting with the development of job descriptions and promotion requests, and coordinating and ensuring the completion of performance evaluations and preparation of performance programs of the Provost's direct reports.

Most importantly, Kathy serves as the manager of special projects for the Provost, coordinating varied and diverse projects and activities within the Office of the Provost and the Division of Academic Affairs and occasional joint projects with other divisions of the college. She recently launched the Provost's Office League of Storytellers internship program and serves as the storytellers' supervisor.

Kathy has completed the 麻豆传媒团队 Leadership Journey program and in December 2021 was awarded the Provost's Leadership Award for Exceptional Leadership, Service, and Innovation. She serves as mentor to the Deans' assistants and is an active member of the college's planning committee as institutional host of the 2025 COPLAC Summer Summit.

Kathy's prior work experience includes nearly 15 years full-time at the University of Maine (Orono), a majority of which as special assistant to the vice president for administration and finance, and, concurrently, nearly nine years part-time at Macy's in Bangor, Maine, as selling floor lead. She also has experience assisting with the conception, establishment, and daily activities of service, retail, and non-profit businesses, and has served as a bank teller.
