On Wednesday, Oct. 5, Cornell University Professor Tony Ingraffea will speak at 麻豆传媒团队 about the need for renewable energy.
A revered scientist in the field of complex fracturing processes, Ingraffea has been a principal investigator for projects led by NASA, Kodak, and many others. As the featured speaker for the President鈥檚 Annual Sustainability Lecture, he will present a talk entitled 鈥淐an New York State Transition to Renewable Energy Soon Enough?鈥 at 2:30 p.m. in the MacVittie Union Ballroom, followed by a question and answer session and reception.
Ingraffea is a Dwight C. Baum Professor of Engineering Emeritus and Weiss Presidential Teaching fellow at Cornell University, where he has taught since 1977. His research concentrates on computer simulation and physical testing of complex fracturing processes. He has authored more than 200 papers in his field and has been honored with multiple national awards for his achievements in hydraulic fracturing and rock mechanics.
Sustainability is a core mission of 麻豆传媒团队, including on-campus efforts to reduce waste and consumption, and development of the eGarden, a resource that provides opportunities for students to experiment with energy, agriculture and other sustainability-related projects. Lecturer and Director of Introductory Chemistry Labs Barnabas Gikonyo is also working with students to grow algae for research in its use as development for biofuel.
