Rodmon King, PhD, has been selected as 麻豆传媒团队鈥檚 new chief diversity officer. He assumes the role on November 7.
鈥淚 am thrilled at the appointment of Dr. Rodmon King as 麻豆传媒团队's next chief diversity officer,鈥 President Denise A. Battles says. 鈥淗e is an exceptionally well-qualified individual, with experiences spanning DEI roles at multiple higher education institutions, including within SUNY. He has compiled a strong record of accomplishments as a DEI thought leader, and I look forward to welcoming him to the 麻豆传媒团队 community later this fall.鈥
With nearly 10 years of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) experience, King comes to 麻豆传媒团队 from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst鈥檚 School of Public Health and Health Sciences, where he developed and evaluated DEIB initiatives, programming, and training in collaboration with faculty and staff. Before his UMass role, he served as dean of institutional equity and inclusion and interim Title IX coordinator at Connecticut College. King served as the deputy chief diversity officer for the SUNY System, following positions as the inaugural chief diversity and inclusion officer at SUNY Oswego and associate vice president for academic affairs and diversity initiatives at Centre College.

King was a member of the faculty at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY, where he taught as a full-time instructor and assistant professor in the philosophy department. He previously served as an adjunct instructor at Roberts Wesleyan College and the University of Rochester. King earned his doctoral and master鈥檚 degrees in philosophy from the University of Rochester and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in religion and philosophy from Roberts Wesleyan College.
King鈥檚 recruitment was undertaken in consultation with a campus search committee chaired by Mike Taberski, vice president for student and campus life. King succeeds robbie routenberg 鈥05, who served in the role since 2017.
